What Happened to Me?

Why have I been missing from here?

Because I have been missing from my acting life.

Soon after my brother passed away, my parents realized that my health is constantly in jeopardy. I’m not severely sick, but very fragile.I’m in the hospital every 2 months and my health is declining. After research, I have contacted a few other CF patients who have recovered their health simply by living near the beach. The salty air has done them wonders!

What started out as a small off-hand remark about moving sparked into home viewings in a matter of hours. It is now a month later, and we are in double escrow: we accepted an offer on our house and the other homeowner accepted our offer.

We are currently 2 hours inland from San Francisco. We are moving 6 hours north to a small town in Humboldt County. There, we will be 20 minutes from the ocean and in the Redwood Forest with clean air and cooler weather.

I have been documenting some of the moving process and have posted them on YouTube. I will post the videos below in order. 🙂

Where we currently live is 6 hours north of Los Angeles. Add the 6 hours we are moving to and we will be 12 hours away from Los Angeles. As you can see, acting in L.A. will be impossible to do as we have done in a day trip.

However, we recently discovered that San Francisco also has main film and acting jobs, too. Once we get settled after the move, we will approach the idea of acting in the Bay Area and San Francisco, as that will be a 4 hour drive. Easily done in a day.

So for now, there is no definable date for when I will start film acting again.

Most of my auditions are now being vlogged and put on YouTube. It’s hard to put into words what I already have filmed. It is easier to watch a video than read a blog. Here are a few of my most recent auditions via YouTube vlogs:

The vlog “Callback Audition” is a callback from the vlog “Our HOUSE BURNED DOWN while on ANOTHER AUDITION”, and I actually booked that job with my mom! Be on the lookout for that vlog in the next week or two.

Also, I have a vlog coming out in 3 days from a shoot I did on a professional music video in the middle of the desert! I had a couple of MAJOR mishaps that day, so be sure to check it out on Thursday!

It’s not often that I bring other people along (besides a parent) to an audition with me, so not many people get to experience what it is like traveling 4-6 hours to an audition, do a 5 minute audition, and travel back home. I made a video showing what I do.

I also made a video showing some vocals and me singing. Check it out below and let me know what you think!

What is going on?!

These last few months have been DEAD as far as going to Los Angeles. Since doing the prom scene, I’ve gone down twice for an audition, but I obviously haven’t gotten any callbacks. My mom, on the other hand, is currently in Los Angeles son day 3 of 4 as an extra for a TV show. Pilot season is coming up soon, so I have my schedule for school so that I am only taking classes 2 days a week: Monday and Wednesday. I hope I can get back in the action soon enough here!

It has been rough lately. By rough, I mean I am not where I want to be, in my life. My last job in Los Angeles was months ago. School started again yesterday and I am taking 15 units. I changed my major this past summer to an A.A. in Art so I can transfer into Interior Design. Because I have taken an excessive amount of classes without getting a degree, I have to petition to get my FAFSA money reinstated. My scholarship will be available med-September, but classes started yesterday. I don’t know what to do about books and art supplies that I need in the next few days.

Where I want to be is having already graduated from this junior college with an A.A. in Art and transferred to a University for Interior Design, probably already graduated there too. I want to be living in Southern California in my own apartment. I want to be going to auditions and booking jobs while being an Interior Designer in my spare time.

As far as my Los Angeles life, I have decided to juggle L.A. trips on the weekend and school on week days as best as I can, but school will come first. For this semester. Next Spring, I will take as many classes as I can on just two days a week and do as many online as I can. Spring is ‘Pilot Season’ and auditions will be coming one after another. That’s as far as I have planned for now. My mom has been getting jobs for herself, such as a Walmart commercial and a reenactment with National Geographic. It’s great that she is doing this. I’m just kind of wishing I was going down too for jobs for myself. Not just auditions. I want paying jobs I can put on my resume.

A few weeks ago, I was able to hang out with an actor, Todd Giebenhain, and he basically said I don’t really have a chance of getting any major roles unless I live in the area. I so desperately want to move to Los Angeles but I can’t afford it! I don’t know how people leave home with $200 in their pocket and start a new life in a new place. What about a place to stay? A job? Groceries until your first paycheck? How does that happen?

Things take time but I always feel like I’m running out of time. I want things to happen now or next week.

Last Tuesday, I had an audition. I go to Southern California with my mom. Every time. This time, my dad had the day off work, so I decided to go with him. Honestly, I don’t think my mom was too happy that I asked him to take me. My acting career isn’t something my dad deals with because he is too busy. He supports me, but isn’t always able to attend because of work. I understand. This time, he had a day off work, so I wanted to do something more than just drive down, do a 2 minute audition, and drive home. I decided we were going to go to the Griffith Observatory. I had always wanted to go! They filmed the movie “The Rocketeer” There, one of my favorite movies. My audition was over by 11:45 and it took about 15 minutes to drive there. Because there was some filming going on in Griffith park, we had to park on a road down the mountain a bit and hike up. Once we were there, the view was amazing! Very smoggy, but still a great view! The inside of the observatory had displays and interactive things that taught about astronomy and the earth’s path, rotation, the moon, our solar system in general. They had a Tesla Coil and did a demonstration. So cool! I honestly don’t think I got the acting job, even though I kinda wanted it. I don’t know why, but I keep forgetting to bring head shots and resumes with me when I audition! My dad is probably going to take new headshots this weekend of me because I was talking with him and we decided I really need some new ones. Even if I didn’t get the acting job, I’m still glad I went because I got to hang out with my dad.

Again with not posting for a while! Sheesh! What is with me?! What is going on? Oh, yeah. I have been going to Los Angeles EVERY WEEKEND except 4 for the last 5 months! It has been CRAZY and AWESOME!

In January, I joined a gym! A few weeks ago, I signed up for a 5K Rave Run n the Bay Area. I’m absolutely thrilled for this event! I’m excited!

So this summer, I am doing two classes online, traveling to Los Angeles as much as I can for jobs and auditions and to see my brother, working out, getting a bit of sun, hopefully a part-time job. This summer is going to be radically different than any summer I’ve ever had.

Before summer can actually start, I need to finish this semester of school! The next three weeks are going to be exceptionally stressful!

I am still a full-time student Monday-Thursday and then I travel on the weekends! However, things are changing.School finishes on April 30th. I did NOT get into either of the summer shows with my local theater company. Don’t ask me why. I have no idea why I didn’t get in. I did audition. So, my summer is COMPLETELY free! I am planning on taking two summer school classes. Both are online, so it won’t tie me down from traveling this summer. I need to talk with an academic counselor at school to find out how many more classes I need to graduate or transfer. Also, I want to start vlogging again this summer! It might be a bit boring at times, but you will be able to see me travel and how I deal with it!

I added my new projects and credits to my “Job Experience” page, but I need for some of them to finish filming before I can post them. I already have them on the page, though, so I don’t forget them, so I have the page pending review before publishing my latest projects! Granted, all are background work, but I got paid for two of them!

I promise I will post more once I’m out of school for summer!

Long time, no post! Weird how things can suddenly pick right up!

Know what’s weird? I’ve spent almost every weekend the last 3 months traveling to Los Angeles and back!

Projects I’ve filmed in the last 3 months? Although ALL background work, I’ve done:

  • A feature film geared for the Filipino audience in America, called “The Pot Bellied Pig”. Proceeds go towards a foundation to help children receive surgeries.
  • two episodes of a new web-serie
  • a Universal Studios movie, actually I filmed in the Bay Area, San Jose
  • a secret project by a disclosed network. Once it airs, I can tell about that project.
  • A movie going to film festivals
  • a short that will be on Youtube by the end of next month.

In the midst of all this, the trailer for Lovesick came out and I am in it! Check it out below!

I’ll probably do a longer and more explanatory post later. I have another blog I have been focusing on lately. Also, school. Lots of school. Some health stuff has cropped up, but school and traveling takes up most of my time.

Last weekend, I went to winter camp with my bible study group. As I was coming home, my mom was texting me as I got into service range and was wondering when I was going to be home. There were auditions for the summer show for the company we usually perform with. I got home with just enough time to have dinner before going to auditions. Well, cast list came out today and I am cast in “South Pacific” for this summer!

I say this about this time of very year and I never follow through. Here is to tradition: As summer is approaching, and even early here in California, I realize how much I need to get in shape and eat healthy. For breakfast today, I had zucchini, yellow squash, and quinoa. I woke up real late today, and all I have had for lunch was a cup of pineapple and a banana. It’s only been 4 hours since I woke up.

It is kinda different this time because my older sister is moving out before the fall semester of school. I don’t know when, but she got accepted to the University she wanted and will be attending in the fall. I can’t wait to get my bedroom back and clean and in order, to have my own space instead of sleeping in the living room. Seriously, you have no idea excited I am.

My bedroom is shaped similar to this and I have ideas to decorate it and arrange it similar to this. 🙂

As I have mentioned on my Facebook fan page on probably on my last post, I want to share some (not all) resolutions for this coming year. I know some will be broken, but it doesn’t hurt to try. These are not in order because I skipped writing them down because they are personal or you don’t need to hear them.

1) Do some form of exercise 5 or 6 days a week- don’t forget, you own a treadmill for those rainy days!

5) Make a new friend in all your classes

6) Book a commercial- or even better, a movie!

8) Get a driver’s license- seriously, you are almost 21. Just do it!

10) Don’t get behind in school- shoot for a GPA 3.5 or higher!

11) Get a new job- don’t be lazy about it. You need the money!

15) Stay organized- keep your room, backpack, and homework area clean!

17) Get back into playing tennis- Great-Great Uncle Glen got you started on it and no reason to stop!

I actually have about 18 resolutions and some are pretty ambitious, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

Write a good book...

4 days ago, I got two of my wisdom teeth out and I have decided something. NEVER. AGAIN. EVER. NOPE.  I still need the other two out, but… no. I have been through some pretty physically painful stuff in my life, but that experience was pushing to spot #1.  Worst thing ever. I wasn’t put to sleep for it and I refuse to get the other two out unless I am. It took 3 days for it to stop bleeding. It is now 5 days later and is still sore and swollen. I have been on a very soft food/liquid diet since then, and it is starting to take a toll on me. I woke up today very weak and tired, and sleeping didn’t change that. I had a few moments today that I thought there was a possibility I was going to pass out, and once I had a small anxiety attack. (Small tangent- I was put on a pain killer, which I never took because I don’t use pain killer ever unless I am crying I am in so much pain, and Penicillin for an imaginary infection, which I also never took. Its like doing chemo because you could have cancer in the future, but don’t now. Unnecessary. Plus, I don’t see the oral surgeon as a real doctor who should be prescribing the strongest antibiotic possible for an infection I don’t have.) I have been staying with my great-grandmother and her daughter to help with cooking and cleaning since my great-aunt (?) got home from the hospital from breaking her arm after she passed out from not eating because she started chemo. At least all I have to do here is cook, light cleaning and watch TV with them. This is going off on tangent #2 now, but I am a germaphobe about a lot of things. One of them is showers. I can’t shower in the same shower as either of them. No offense to them, but I can’t. I have to go home every few days for an hour to shower.

Vampire academy movie

That’s hot. Lol.

Anyway, 2014 is started now, I don’t ever want to repeat getting my teeth out but I will have to eventually, I miss solid food, and I am hoping and praying so hard that 2014 will be a great year. I have written down what I have defined 2014 being a great year, but we will have to see how things play out. Resolutions #1, 6, 8, 10, and 11 are near/are at the top of the list.

School doesn’t start until the 13th, so I have about 2 weeks left off before school starts. Last year this time, I was in the hospital for pneumonia. So far, this year is off to a better start. Lets hope the beginning, middle and end are better than 2013. For everybody.

Happy New Years!! :D

… Don’t judge. It’s true, for now!
